Testimonials
I really LOVE Animal Care Clinic! Dr. Eric Thorsgard and his professional staff have genuine compassion, are extremely friendly and are true animal lovers!
I was very thankful our beloved chocolate lab, Sampson, was in their care for the past six years. When Dr. Thorsgard informed us of Sampson’s cancerous tumor, we were devastated. My husband and I knew we had to let Sampson go, but making the decision was heartbreaking. The staff at Animal Care Clinic was by our side the entire time and they had just as many tears as we did. There was no rush to make an immediate decision and we were able to spend over two hours in one of their exam rooms. We felt like family in their clinic.
To top it off, the staff at Animal Care Clinic sent us a bouquet of flowers, a card and even a clay footprint of Sampson the next day. They understood how painful this was for our family.
If you’re ever looking for a veterinary clinic, Animal Care Clinic is a perfect place for your pets. Their facility is always clean, Dr. Thorsgard is very knowledgeable and they don’t charge a fortune.

Dr. Thorsgard was not always my vet, but when mine retired (a man I dearly love and think is smarter than anyone in veterinary medicine) I asked him who do you recommend I go to now? He said without a doubt, the best and most knowledgeable vet in Bemidji is Dr. Eric Thorsgard at Animal Care Clinic.
Fate intervened and sent me to him quicker than I’d planned when my Maltese, Bailey, was diagnosed at the University of Mn. with a rare brain disease they said was not curable or treatable and that he would die within a month. I searched the Internet and found a specialist in Boston treating this disease and armed with information, I met with Dr. Thorsgard and asked if he would work with the specialist and me in an attempt to help Bailey. He jumped right on board into territory he was somewhat previously unfamiliar with and two years later, I still have my Bailey.
Dr. Thorsgard made himself available at all times for me even in the middle of the night on occasion. He worked Bailey in for urgent blood testing, emergency hospitalization from various chemo problems, and worked dilligently to always meet every request of the specialist. The office staff has become family to me and I will always appreciate their dilligent efforts as well to accomodate last minute needed help.
My other two dogs (one who has passed now) receive excellent care when needed from basic yearly exams to major dental surgery to diabetes control. Dr. Thorsgard, the very important office staff, and all the wonderful technicians who work together to operate Animal Care Clinic treat my furry family with such gentless and compassion.
I feel the utmost confidence in taking my “other family” to Animal Care Clinic and would recommend anyone do the same. Cost of care is reasonable and evenly matched to other clinics in town, but the care animals receive there is priceless.

Eric,
I was thinking about you last weekend, and want thank you for your TPLO wizardry. Darla and I ventured to Lamb's Resort, near the Temperance River on the North Shore. Did hikes or 8 or 9 miles Saturday and Sunday on the Superior Hiking Trail, and the hikes included our 10-year-old springer spaniel Target. Target is in remarkable shape for a 10-year-old, and probably covered about 100 miles through the dense cover while we did our 18.
I think it's been 7 and 8 years since you TPLOed Target's left and right knees. The surgeries in themselves were astoundingly successful. What's even more astounding is how they have held up over time. Target has pheasanted with me every year since his surgeries, and accompanies on all my outdoorsing junkets. As you know, the best pheasant hunting takes place in some of the worst territories. Swamps, hillocks, sloughs. He has seen it all, and done it all. One of the most arduous was several years ago when we did some late season hunting that included rather heavy snow cover in a swampy area. I remember thinking to myself at the time, that if there was ever a situation that his knee was gonna blow up again, that was it, because the conditions were as rugged as a dog can experience. Not a hiccup did his knees have.
The wonderful thing about the two TPLOs is that after both of them, he simply returned to his old form, as though nothing had even gone wrong in the first place. Target was born with a remarkably smooth gait, it's a joy watching him run, because it's pure animal artistry. Today, at the age of ten, 7 and 8 years after the two TPLOs, that gait is unchanged. No post-surgical effects, very minimal evidence of arthritis.
Target and I want to say "Thanks" for what you did for him...and what you do for his fellow canines!
